Happy Weekend everyone! Last week was so crazy, weather-wise. It was almost 60 degrees one day, then the next it snowed! That taste of warm weather just made me wish for spring so much!

Anyway, this dress, tights, and necklace are all recent purchases from ASOS...I guess I was just really in a neon mood! I love how bright these colors are. I feel like lately I've been really drawn to yellows and pinks...maybe it's just me wishing winter was over!

I keep seeing SPRING fashions everywhere, and I get really excited, then I remember that we still have to get through at least 2 more months of cold weather before I can start breaking out the sundresses. So, here's a little inspiration board of some fun cold weather-appropriate outfits :)

I also suppose that a lot of these pieces could be good transitional items into spring, like that swan blouse & heart sweater. Either way, I still need to be dressing warmly!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

My name's Megan and I blog over at Lovely Miss Megs! I'm a lover of all things crafty and nerdy and I'm a firm believer that everything is better with glitter! But enough about me, lets get onto the Valentine's day festivities shall we?

Today I know there are some of you who love Valentine's day but don't want to fall into the stigma of wearing pink and red. I know I'm one of these people, so don't fret as I've come up with a solution! Instead of drawing outfit inspiration from the holiday's official colors, why not draw inspiration from what really matters... all the fun candy!

First up we have the conversational heart outfit. To me conversational hearts are flirty, colorful and fun. So for this outfit I chose a dress with bright hearts all over it and colorful accessories to match! The ring I chose because it reminds me of rock candy which is just another form of sugar. So it goes along with our sweet theme. Also don't worry if you don't own a dress with hearts all over it. I'm a firm believer in working with what you've already got. So instead you could accessorize with hearts or make a super fast heart broach with some felt and a safety pin! Get creative and have fun with it!

Next we have the cinnamon heart outfit. When I think of cinnamon hearts I think of the bright red color and the intense heat it leaves in your mouth. So from that I figured you couldn't go wrong with a smokin' hot red dress, am I right?! For this outfit I think the key is to keep it sexy and sassy. That's why I've accessorized a delicate material like lace with some edgier things like metal spikes. I also threw in a tailored blazer because I think it makes the outfit look powerful and confident. And those are two attributes that always make a lady look sexy!

And lastly we have the outfit inspired by my personal favourite, chocolate! This is a great outfit to wear if you secretly want to feel festive.

When I think of chocolates I think of sophistication, and the swirling of melted chocolate... yum! (this is making me hungry just thinking about it) Anyways, for this outfit I chose to use both brown and cream colors to represent milk and white chocolate, and a little splash of pink just to keep it festive. I also chose clothes that have soft curves to them, so if you'll notice the shorts and shirt have scallops. This to me incorporated the whole swirling chocolate idea. And then of course I threw in a physical representation of chocolate as an accessory.

So there you have it! Three Valentine's Day outfits inspired by 3 of the day's most popular sweets. I love finding inspiration in the weirdest places, and hopefully this Valentine's day you'll find your own inspirations!

Happy Sunday everyone! Boy, did this weekend fly by, or is that just me?
Saturday I got my hair re-cut...the length I got 2 weeks ago was close, but I wanted it shorter. I LOVE this length now, and am so happy I had the guts to cut it!

This is what I wore today with my friends when we went on a photo adventure to a cemetery near my apartment. We had no idea this place even existed, and it's massive! It's right on the water and there were just so many beautiful places. Too bad it was 15 degrees with terrible wind :/ I'm looking forward to going in the spring and doing more outfit posts!

BUSINESS CARDS I'M LOVING

I've been really into branding lately, mostly because I just re-branded myself and am looking to design some new business cards.
Here are a few cards I'm currently loving at the moment!

I stumbled on this project from IS Creative Studio and fell in love with their business card project. Just look at that simple logo and ombre DIY sides of the card in orange and pink! Gorgeous.

Here's another project I'm loving at the moment, business cards for Ubiquitous...I guess I'm really digging the painted sides on cards lately!

I'm literally swooning (no pun intended) over this gorgeous letterpress identity package by design work life. Everything about these cards is just perfect.

SUPER HOROSCOPES

I've always been a fan of Lois van Baarle's work...and this piece, "Super Horoscopes", has been in my favorites for as long as I can remember. Cute girls, signature illustration style, and the Zodiac? Yes, please.

When I first came across these posters, I was blown away. I've always been inspired by the Swiss style of design; the bold type, the bright colors. Mike creates posters for shows that have actually occured, drawing from this style of design. Just look how amazing these are!

WINTER WONDERLAND

Happy Saturday everyone!
We got blasted with snow today...around 6" and it's still snowing! So, of course that meant trekking through the snowstorm this morning and snapping pictures. Unfortunately it was snowing too hard to get many pictures, but these turned out pretty fun.

And my hat got stuck to this monument! It took some work to get it unstuck.

I took the opportunity today after the walk today to wrap up in a blanket, drink some hot chocolate, and realax after a pretty stressful week at work.

THE SHORT V. LONG HAIR DEBATE

For the past 6 months or so I've had the overwhelming urge to cut my hair into a cute bob. So why haven't I done it? There's that part of me that says, "Kyla, you've never had your hair really long. Grow it."

I usually keep my hair around 1"-5" past my shoulders, and it has been like that for the longest time. I always have some sort of bangs (and would keep them regardless of what I do). A few years ago I cut my hair a little shorter than my shoulders, and I vowed I wouldn't go shorter than that. BUT. I feel like I need to bob my hair, just to say I've tried it. Then I also say I should grow it really long, because it's never been that length before, either. Oh, decisions. *sign

What I Wore: Weekend Wears

This weekend has been crazy...it's had its ups and downs, but it went by all to fast. Also...it was 65 degrees yesterday. What?? I thought it was supposed to be January! Not that I'm complaining too much, but it's so bizarre.

This outfit is pretty typical to what I wear most weekends...jeans, boots, blazer, tee. After a week wearing dresses and heels, I like to be more casual on the weekend. My friends and I ended up getting coffee this morning and walked over to the park. We got a lot of funny looks from the people jogging by, but that's half the fun!

Have you guys heard of The Type Fight? According to the site,

Type Fight is a project to distract Drew Roper and Ryan Paule from their day-to-day grind. Every so often, they will design the same letter and pin them against each other in the typographic ring to battle it out for best looking character.

Cool, huh? Definitely some great inspiration here! Sort of reminds me of Letter Playground, and makes me want to create more letters...

I know I've been absent the last week, but I was so busy finishing up with work before break that I haven't had much time for blogging! I'm with my family now, and don't have to go back for another week which is so exciting!

It feels great to be back at my parent's house, with a full sized tree (we only managed a mini 2 foot one at the apartment)!

And look at this adorable narwhale plushie my roommate got me from Zooguu!! I named her Priscilla.

This year, I confess that I have been completely inspired but at the same time, utterly un-inspired to create anything for Christmas. The past couple of years I created some really great items for gifts...Magnets, Illustrated Cards, Coasters...and this year I have nothing. Yet.

I am so inspired by everything I've seen made on the internet and in life, but I haven't had the motivation to create anything. Maybe I'm just lazy this year? I mean, I'd love to make coasters again, but I did that last year:

Yesterday I managed to get my act together, and create some cute little illustrations and got them printed. This weekend I'll be putting them together in a fun way for gifts. Pictures to come once they're complete! :)

So today was un-naturally warm...which was fine by me! I was in and out of shops, doing lots of Christmas shopping. I'm actually almost done! Usually I'm terrible and leave most things for the last minute (which is terrible when I make things for people) but I feel good about this year!

I also seem to wear these boots in almost every outfit post I make...what can I say? They're my favorite!

Today I contributed to Black Friday, and ended up getting a lot of good deals. Normally I don't shop on Black Friday (too crowded!), but I went out with my Mom and braved the crowds and traffic...and it was actually fun! I got a lot of really neat little Christmas ornaments; I can't wait to get a little tree and put it in the apartment!

When my friend showed me Hello Giggles, I was floored...Zooey is the co-founder, along with Sophia Rossi and Molly Mcaleer.

New Bonlook Glasses!

Sorry I've been so out of touch recently, I've actually been pretty sick for most of the week :/

Anyway, a few months ago I heard about this neat company called BonLook, that offers prescription glasses for $99 (or if you're like me with ridiculously bad eyesight, and extra $30 for extra thin lenses). So a pair of glasses for $129?? AMAZING.

I would have ordered them right there, but my prescription was out of date so I had to wait to make the appointment. And when I did, my eye doctor chided me for buying eyeglasses online. Humph.

Buuuuut, they came and I couldn't have been more thrilled! They are stylish, comfortable, and most importantly, really do help me see! I got the Hooverville frames, but I was also eyeing the Smoking Hot.

Hi all!
I hope you all had lovely weekends, I know I did!

You probably didn't notice, but I finally got my butt around to setting up my custom domain! I'm officially kylaisinspired.com! Exciting stuff.

Anyway, this is just a quick post about what I wore today to work. Sometimes, I get pretty bored dressing in standard "business wear", so I like to mix it up a bit. I mean, I work at a pretty cool jewelry & lingerie company, so I like to be as fashionable as possible by mixing casuals with my most formal.

Also...the photos had to be taken inside, as it was already dark when I got home from work! Time changes always seem to mess me up. What about you?

A while ago I got a sample of their "Little Luxe Perfume" in Sugar Grapefruit, and it's been love ever since. When the mini runs out, I'm definitely buying the full size, and probably another mini test ^^ I also want to try their Rich Conditioner, as I'm always looking for new hair products.

First Snow of the Season

A few days ago, you might remember me complaining about the snow...it's just too early for it! We got about 2-3 inches, and although most of it melted it was enough for me to get ready to pack up and move to the tropics. Good thing I live in New Englad, huh?

Anyway, the next day I was able to get some outfit pictures at the amazing space of the BIF, and frolicked around outside a bit in what was left of the snow. Brr!

I also want to mention that I bought this gorgeous royal blue coat last April at a Delia's for $20! Finding deals makes me so incredibly happy.

I hope everyone is having a spook-tastic day, and had a fun & safe weekend! I love looking at all your Halloween posts, there is so much creative out there!

If you follow my twitter, you'll know that unfortunately, it snowed this weekend. A lot. My family got about 6 inches, some places got more than a foot (eek!) And I ended up with about 2-3, which is 2-3 too many. So we didn't end up doing anything durning the storm, but had a blast last night dressing up and watching movies.

And I dressed as...Adobe InDesign! Talk about design nerd :) My friend Sam was Photoshop, and Karyn was Illustrator. It was a fun costume idea, but I think next time we need to get the whole Adobe Suite!

There was also a ridiculous Madonna wig that made it's way around...I'm in the top right. I don't know, I don't think I'll be going blonde anytime soon! :)

Today my friend and I visited my favorite place in all of Providence, a little park that sits high on the hill with a gorgeous view of the entire city skyline. Providence might be small, but I adore the skyline :) I'm pretty bummed out that it was so cloudy out though :/

Also pretty windy...I always choose to wear skirts on the windiest days, I swear. Does that seem to happen to you? Any tips for keeping a skirt down so there are no accidental Marilyn moments?

I found it a couple of weeks ago and fell in love. The girls that run it, Terri & Jenny are so sweet, and their recipes are easy to follow and fun to read. And just look at their site! It's so nicely designed.

I went up north to visit my parents at home to participate in a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event! If you also want to participate, it's really easy to use the Making Strides page to find an event near you! My mom's team raised over $1000!

My mom is a survivor, and the strongest person I know. We had a great day!

True Blood Obsession

I was waiting to write this post until my True Blood withdrawal kicked in...and only one month later and I already miss my favorite show :/ I barely lasted at all, and now I need to wait a whole year for the next season! I'm bad at waiting.

JESSICA
Jessica is so sassy, I can't help but love her. When she was first brought into the show, I thought she was just going to be annoying, but she quickly grew to be my favorite! Also...I absolutely love her gorgeous blue eyes and ginger curls!

Pam is just amazing. She's mean, rude, gorgeous, and has the best shoe collection. I love how devoted she is to Eric, too.

Let's be honest here...if we want to talk about wardrobe, Queen Sophie-Ann has the best one, hands down. She brings all the glamour of the 30's and 40's, and an air of sophistication even if she was broke. I think that's why I liked her so much. I was so sad when I realized she wouldn't be back :(

Favorite Season:
THREE
Even though this was the bloodiest season, it's my favorite. I almost chose season one, but I realized Jessica wasn't in it, and Pam and Eric were hardly in it, so I went with three ^^ Russell was a great villain, and I think he really helped make the season strong. Also, the werewolves were pretty awesome.

Favorite Couple:
TERRY & ARLENE
A lot of people I talk to don't like Arlene, but I just adore her...she's loud and not afraid to be herself. Terry is perfect for her...you can just tell he loves her so much! Plus, I'm so intrigued with the whole "devil baby" storyline!

The Obligatory "Bill v. Eric":
ERIC
What can I say? I was team Eric for Sookie ever since he came on screen. It doesn't help that I never liked Bill.

Are there any other True Blood fans out there? I'm so much of a fan that I even own the Merlotte's t-shirt!

So..serious question...how do you choose titles for your blog posts? I always end up feeling so lame posting titles. If any of you have ideas, please, let me know! :)

Anyway, this is what I wore to work yesterday.
I found this gorgeous yellow silky scarf hidden in H&M and immediately fell in love. I love wearing long scarves tied in bows, it's a cute way to freshen up an outfit.

I'm really excited, because the weather is finally cooling down! I was actually chilly wearing just the blazer...I'm just sad that I sit at work all day and don't get to enjoy the weather as much. There's nothing better than spending a nice day outside in the cool weather with the blue sky and orange leaves.

One of my favorite things to do is go to the liquor store and pick out a bottle of anything based solely on the packaging...I've found that liquor bottles, wine bottles, and coffee tend to have the best and most interesting packaging designs.

Have you guys ever done that? I've wasted a lot of money and had some odd tasking drinks....but at least it looks nice, right? I guess that's what being obsessed with design and pretty things will do to you! ^^

What I Wore: Apple Picking!

Fall is my favorite season, and apple picking is one of my favorite things to do. Even though today was rainy, humid, and grey, we still had a blast apple picking :)

And what would a day with apple picking be without pie?!

I just hope that this heat/humidity breaks soon, because I'm sick of having to wear my summer clothes in October...I was definitely a little too warm today, but I just had to wear a sweater and boots apple picking. That's kind of a rule, right??

Hello all, Happy Friday!

In my spare time, I love to draw, and pin-ups are usually what I end up doodling the most. Below is a little retro girl that I've been working on over the past month whenever I've had the time. I've been so busy lately, it's been forever since I've drawn anything for myself!

Also, in other big news...*drumroll* I FINALLY got my first real graphic design job! The whole reason why I moved back to Providence was to get more into fashion & design, any my new job incorporates both! I'm still freelancing, but I'll be working as an in-house graphic designer for a nation-wide jewelry design company. I start Monday, and I'm so so so excited!

Saturday Thrifting Finds!

This weekend I got to do some legit thrifting, the first trip I've made since being back in RI. And boy, did I find some great things!

Plaid Skirt
This skirt reminds me of a Catholic schoolgirl, or an anime schoolgirl...and it was only $4! It's a little tight, but I'm in love with it. I want to wear it with a gold knit circle scarf and beret.

Blazer
I'm so so so pleased with this find...the jacket is actually from H&M and was only $6! What I love about it is that the sleeves are long enough on my arms...normally when I get blazers, the sleeves fall a little short on me but not this one! I wish I could have used a photo with me actually IN the blazer, but they all turned out blurry :/

I'm wearing this outfit with my Simply Vera Wang shoes, which are one of my favorite pairs. They're pretty tricky to walk in though.

I Wish I Was A Parisian Blogger

Well, not really...but we can all dream, can't we?!

This post is mostly to highlight some of my favorite bloggers, who all happen to be French! Some of these bloggers I have been following for years, and they are the inspiration for me to start my own blog. I think when I first discovered fashion blogging, I got hooked into the French blogging scene and didn't gander towards English/American blogs for a few months! Silly me.

I've posted about Valentine before, but she is one of my absolute favorite bloggers, and her blog was one of the very first I discovered. She has amazing outfits, and her photos are always stunning, always at different places around Paris.

two. Zoe Macaron
Zoe Macaron makes me want to have long, blonde hair. I love that her style is a mix of super-cute, girly clothes and more casual outfits like jeans and sandals. Either way, she always looks very put together.

three. Betty
Betty is the definition of cool...if I ever need some inspiration on how to be casual, yet stylish, yet cool, I can turn to Betty's blog. She also has some great location photos.

four. Alex
I'm pretty sure most of you know Alex, aka The Cherry Blossom Girl. Alex's blog was the first blog I remember looking at and saying, I want to blog. Her photos are absolutely stunning and she has the most amazing wardrobe. And shoes.

five. Haleigh
OK, so technically Haleigh isn't a French blogger, her tagline is "A Silly American in Paris", but I'm going to count her blog because she is adorable and has great style....and the cutest little pet bunny ever!

Do you guys remember when I posted about LUVD, the clothing company that gives a portion of your purchase to the charity of your choice?

Well, I ended up ordering their Imagine tee, and oh my gosh, I am in love with this tee! I chose the charity Discover The Journey,

"...a team of journalists, filmmakers, writers, photographers, artist and designers who have traveled to over 50 nations, exposing injustices facing children in crisis."

You can actually choose from four different charities: Falling Whistles, DJT, Preemptive Love Coalition, and LifeWater.
So not only did I feel great that part of my purchase was going to a good cause, but the product that came was also pretty amazing.

The first thing I saw in the package was the awesome business card, decal (which I immediately put on my computer ^^) and the starburst. Can you say awesome?

Anyway, I got this shirt a size larger so I could lounge in it, and I think the word to describe how I feel in this shirt is COOL. I feel super hip and cozy, and the material is so soft. Definitely a good purchase!!

Julie West is my absolute favorite illustrator...I remember seeing her works and thinking....I want to be like Julie West when I'm older (even though this was only a few years ago ^^).

What I Wore: Party, Party!

The other night I went to one of those work parties, you know, the ones that everyone dresses up for, where you eat free appetizers and drink overpriced drinks, where there is an obligatory speech then everyone goes to work the next day pretending like they aren't hungover? That kind of party (I wasn't hungover - don't worry! But everyone else was and it was hilarious to watch!)
Anyway, this is what I wore:

These boots are actually one of my best thrifting finds; they were originally priced at $140, down to $100, and I snagged them for $30! They're my fall staple for sure, and I probably over-wear them, but I just love them too much not to!

Some Tidbits & Going-Ons

Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a lovely Labor Day weekend :) I went home and visited my parents for my grandmother's 78th birthday, and had a great time catching up with family.

Anyway, here are a few instagram photos from the past week or so.

Also dyed my hair black again, yay! I love dying it darker for the winter. I posted on my twitter about recommendations for products for color treated hair, and came up with Paul Mitchell. Anyone else have any recommendations? I want to make the most out of this hair color! :)

And also also, these are my glasses, I love them to death but I hardly ever wear them. I always say I'm going to wear them more often, but I never do! I'm actually going to make a post about glasses soon, so stay tuned!

A Quick Irene Post

I hope all you East Coast bloggers made it through Irene safely!!

This is our street, I still can't believe we are lucky enough to still have power when two trees fell down 3 houses down. Luckily everyone was ok!

I'm lucky enough to live on a hill next to a hospital, so we didn't get flooded or lose power, but my office is right on the water, and that got flooded :/ I think the worst damage was to my car, which is covered in leaves. Did it rain glue or something? They're proving extremely difficult to remove.

My roommate and I were prepared for the worst though, stocked with water, granola bars, movies, TV shows...and sangria. Yep, we made it through Hurricane Irene stocked with fruity sangria and wine spritzers :) And snacks. We ate a lot of food, including pancakes, fresh hummus, and turkey chili.

What I Wore: Typical Work Outfit

Another outfit post so soon?! Well, maybe I'm hooked now...

This is what I wore to work today, pretty typical of me actually. Usually I wear either a dress and heels, or a skirt, tee and heels.

Also, I don't know if any of you have this problem, but I feel like whenever I wear a dress or skirt, the weather decides to be super windy. y/y? Maybe it was my own fault because Irene is coming soon, but wind + dresses is never a good match.

(I'm working on the awkwardness that is my expression/pose...I'll get better!! ^^)

Also, these are my favorite shoes I own. I got them at this weird store at the mall for about $20 last winter, and I've worn them at least twice a week ever since. I can't get enough of them!

4. Because of that, when I get older I want to be an art teacher.
